The Curry family had a Big Night on multiple courts !

Growing up I have many fond memories of watching a young Dell ( Wardell Stephen) Curry fire 3-pointers for the brand new Charlotte Hornets. The VT graduate made a name for himself during a solid NBA career (1986-2002). _______________________________________________ There are folks here in the Valley that can trace Dell back even before his days down in Blacksburg . Curry grew up in the Harrisonburg area and played his high school basketball for the Fort Defiance Indians. Curry was taken by Charlotte in the expansion draft after his second year in the league and spent the majority of his time playing for the Hornets. _______________________________________________ The fact that Dell is know on the coaching staff for the Charlotte Bobcats took a back seat the past couple of years to the fact that another Curry was tearing up the record books. Stephen Curry led tiny Davidson to the brink of the Final Four last season and is simply on fire again in 2008-2009 season. ____________________...

New Market Rebel scores a Touchdown ! ?

GAINESVILLE - After getting the last of the Washington Post put out for the morning I turned on ESPN-News to check out some of the NCAA highlights from yesterday. In my 10 minutes of searching I stumbled across something unusual. Florida was hosting The Citadel yesterday down in the swamp (Gators won 70-19) and Tim Tebow was having another huge day. Leading 14-0 late in the first quarter, Tebow connected on a 43 yard scoring strike to none other than VBL /New Market Rebels Riley Cooper. The 43 yarder was Cooper's only catch for the game but it did make Sportscenter . Congrats to Riley... Not sure how many times that has happened in the history of the VBL where a player catches a TD pass from the reining Heisman Trophy winner during a game the following season...

1ST Year of Around The Valley is in the Books - 11/13/07 to 11/13/08

It took reading John Leonard's sight at http://allthingsvalleyleague.typepad.com today for me to go back and check the start date for our site. John is celebrating the end of Year #2 and the beginning of Year #3 ( kudos to John- Love the new look he has as well!). It has indeed been 1 year since we rolled our family project out and it has been a great deal of fun over the past 365 days!
