Spending a Holiday Evening with The Algers & The Extended Rebels Family
Spending the amount of time I do volunteering my time Around The Valley does have a couple of perks. A couple of the current posistions I hold down with the New Market Rebels is helping them with both their P.R and their web casts. This gives one something more than a paycheck or presteige, it makes part of the Rebel family. Saturday night was the Annual Christmas Party for the team which is held at the Alger's home and this had me wandering around Bruce and Lynne's home taking pictures of the folks I spend part of my summer with. I will get back to adding some written notes after the photos but I wanted to post a few of them below... Merry Christmas !

New Market's Riley Cooper helps Gators knock off #1 Alabama 31-20
Florida Gators 31, Alabama Crimson Tide 20 Tim Tebow found Riley Cooper on a 5-yard slant pattern for the clinching TD late in the 4TH quarter, sending Florida back to the National Championship game. Cooper finished the game with 2 catches for 56 yards (quick math - other catch went for 51 yards) Congrats to Riley, Tim and the Gators !

Big news coming from the Valley Baseball League - Three days after the VBL All-Star Game is to be played (July 12TH) in Woodstock, the VBL will take a 25 man All-Star Roster up to Waldorf, Maryland for a showdown with the Cal Ripken League All-Stars. ________________________________________ The game is slated to be televised on Cable TV throughout the Eastern Seaboard and both the Nats and the Orioles are slated to have the night off. The contest should be a GRAND opportunity to showcase the talent of the Valley Baseball League. _________________________________________ Cal Jr. & Billy Ripken will be among those in the stadium for the game and with the MLB off that night in the region, it truly could a night for the Ages... ________________________________________________________________
