Good Morning from the suburbs of Laurel Fork...
It's been a while because things have been happening a rapid pace around here. Actually both here and up in Page County where we are closing in on the completion of our " Raise a Barn " project.
Yesterday turned out to be a fairly long day but it was full of enjoyment. I made my first trek to a quiant little town called Chilhowie, Virginia where are Junior Varsity Girls took care of business against the hometown Warriors. Exit 39 off of I-81, just below Marion if that helps.
Today is the rare day where the paths cross as on Friday morning up in Shenandoah Travis Knight is going to be getting our "Barn" ready for electricity. Travis is what I would call an Answered Prayer. Most of the volunteers on our project where in it from the start but Travis happened to be in the right place (for us) at the right time and we are going to get to include a Phase 2 item to our Phase 1 rollout. Translation being we will have Lights this year versus next year. Travis and his brother will begin on Friday morning and I want to be standing there when they get started, not because I know a great deal about electrical work but to show support for someone that has blindly jumped into our project.
What's a 180 mile drive each way when you are on a Mission ? Going back to my knowledge of Electricity it begins and ends with turning a light switch off and on!
The next step in the process is to see if there is anything related to Carroll County High School along the way ? It turns out that the Boys and Girls Swim teams are competing at the Daleville YMCA this evening!
Cover some swimming, meet up with our overnight delivery folks and then spend the following morning with Travis. Later that afternoon it back to Carroll County for the Hall of Fame ceremony plus all four of our basketball teams will be playing James River.
Bonus Hoops on Saturday up at Rockbridge County as they are hosting a day long basketball event that will have Spotswood squaring off with our Lady Cavaliers.
Summary for the next 2+ days :
Laurel Fork to Daleville (96 miles)
Daleville to Page County (119 miles)
Page County to Carroll County High School(198 miles)
CCHS back to Laurel Fork (15 miles)
Laurel Fork to Rockbridge County (136 miles)
Rockbridge County back to Laurel Fork (136 miles)= 700 Miles
Turns out that totals 700 miles exactly, which means a stop at Nester's Citgo both coming at going !
Some might think thats a bit over the top, maybe even my own Wife?? But I want to shake Travis's hand and buy him and his brother lunch because they are walking proof that what my wife and I believe is true - There are enough Good Folks left in this world that are willing to take their skill set and put to use where it benifits others. The entire process behind OneofUs.Care is Travis Knight and people like him.
Most of the main players in the project have been involved from Day One and they had an idea of what they were getting into ahead of time but we have picked up some wonderful human beings along the way !
This morning already involved wonderful conversation with Larry Phillips and his wife Beverly plus Brad Todd as they teamed up to fix a wiring issue out our way. Plus getting the paperwork turned into Lawrence Nesselrodt for the soon to start West Virginia Tech Baseball season.
Better hit the road now because the 700 miles aren't going to drive themselves !
HAVE A BLESSED DAY
