It's February Now so that means its time for Golden Bears Baseball !

The West Virginia Tech University Golden Bears are set to take to the diamond for the first time this Saturday down in Johnson City, Tennessee with two games at the TVA Credit Union Stadium (Cardinal Park). The team will remain in the area for more action on Sunday with the venue moving over to nearby Dobyns Bennett High School. Skipper Lawrence Nesselrodt is set to begin his 15th season and the helm of the program and will once again be assisted by West Virginia Baseball Legend Joe Goddard. Former Golden Bear player Doug Pollack will also be returning for another season on one of the most experienced staffs in the History of the game of Baseball. If there was ANY doubt to that statement it dissapeared when yet another Baseball Lifer joined the Tech Family in Steve Crossier. Crossier has coached at pretty much every level of the game from High School all the way throough the Show where he spent 12 years instructing players at the top level of the game. Another bit of exciting news comes in the form of new digs for the teams home cames. WVU-T will be calling the GoMart Ballpark in downtown Charleston home for the 2022-2023 season ! The 4,500 seat stadium will go a long way in creating an atmosphere for both the team and local baseball fans across the Valley. We will be there every step of the way as the unoffical site for All Things Golden Bears and will be rolling out a new portion of the coverage which we will call " Through the Catcher's Mask " with Golden Bears backstop Garrett " Gator " Warden bringing us a special behind the scenes look into the program throughout the baseball season. Our site here for the next 90 Days will be solely dedicated to capturing the upcoming season of Golden Bear Baseball! As our skipper is known to say proudly - It's a Great Day to be a Golden Bear and It'd a Great Day for Baseball.......

Central High School - Coach Jerry Walters & The Falcons Family Tree- Pics 1ST

After spending a couple of hours with Mr. John Galle of the Shenandoah Valley Herald in Woodstock I made the two mile drive over to Central High School. The Lady Falcons were playing Broadway and one thing you can always count on at Central is the chance to visit with some folks that will make you feel right at home. Tonight was no different, except the opportunity to trade stories with none other than Valley Coaching Legend Jerry Walters. On our site Jerry is also known as Jeff''s Dad but for tonight we will call him Coach. Coach spent 34 years working the sidelines at Central until his retirement following the 2004-2005 campaign. While I have known Coach for a few years, it wasn't until Thursday night that I was able to spend what I would call one on one plus time. See, Coach is a magnet to folks in the gym and each one of them brings another couple of stories to the forefront.
