One of the perks to spending a decade out in the Pacific Northwest was watching this can't miss high school baseball player, Ken Griffey Jr. make his way to the bigs. Junior playing with his father Ken Griffey Sr. in the same line-up or his streak of hitting a dinger for eight straight nights are just a couple of highlights that come to mind.

Playing for his third team (Chicago White Sox) during his career, The Kid went deep for the 610TH time to move pass Sammy Sosa into fifth place overall. The solo shot came in the ninth inning of a tough loss for the White Soxs but there are now just four in front of Griffey..

Barry Bonds,
Hank Aaron-755,
Babe Ruth-714 and
Willie (The Say Hay Kid) Mays-660 are the only players that have connected for more HR's than the Moeller High School graduate...

Central High School - Coach Jerry Walters & The Falcons Family Tree- Pics 1ST

After spending a couple of hours with Mr. John Galle of the Shenandoah Valley Herald in Woodstock I made the two mile drive over to Central High School. The Lady Falcons were playing Broadway and one thing you can always count on at Central is the chance to visit with some folks that will make you feel right at home. Tonight was no different, except the opportunity to trade stories with none other than Valley Coaching Legend Jerry Walters. On our site Jerry is also known as Jeff''s Dad but for tonight we will call him Coach. Coach spent 34 years working the sidelines at Central until his retirement following the 2004-2005 campaign. While I have known Coach for a few years, it wasn't until Thursday night that I was able to spend what I would call one on one plus time. See, Coach is a magnet to folks in the gym and each one of them brings another couple of stories to the forefront.
