The First Pitch at your next "Home Game"

The hope from the beginning of the Around The Valley promotion was to have the first fan from any of the teams to complete their trek through the league be acknowledged at their home teams next game. The hope that the cermony would include throwing out the First Pitch. After the latest owners meeting this past week I can comfortably say that will indeed happen!

It will be up to each individual club as to how they move forward past the first local fan but we will try our best to make sure each dedicated fan that completes the journey is properly recognized for his or her efforts!

We are now inside of two weeks until we kick off the festivities in Woodstock at the River Bandits home opener. The following night we will make it down to Waynesboro for the Generals home opener as well. We will continue to post all of the updates possible as we head down the home stretch- waiting for those two magical words:

PLAY BALL!

That does seem like a great idea and u will have some General fans up to that challenge, I will have a setback the first week due to half of the workers at my job all being out of town from Monday-Thursday and I gotta work those days. But more Waynesboro Generals road games are coming up after that and will do our best to make them, hoping no rainouts.

Got another idea which would be nice have all that was able to do the road trip all be at the 1st game of the Valley League Championship to be recongized too.

Can't wait for the season to get here in just less than 2 weeks.

I really like the idea of a post- regular season gathering of the faithful! One of the really unique parts of the promotion is having no idea how many fans will be able to complete the cycle. We will be down in Waynesboro for your teams home opener and look forward to taking pictures of you and the rest Generals faithful to post.

Thank you and don't be surprised if you see a sign for the site too. The first night will be a little different because we don't have everyone's nickname other than the returnees from last year, that I hope all of them do come back (9 from the last time I seen). But if West Virginia,Elon,College of Charleston all makes it to the CWS, all of them will be late. I know LSU will make it and can't wait to see Daniel Bradshaw and Micah Gibbs in person.

From what I see on paper with the updated rosters I know Covington will be a better team from last year. Staunton and Harrisonburg looks good also. I don't know yet what Front Royal,Luray, and Haymarket has. I just hope my Generals can repeat. For all 11 teams I know its going to be another great season.
