Looking for weekend plans? Look no further.

This coming weekend is the Junior Olympic volleyball tournament at the Richmond Convention Center. Teams from U12 to u18 play in one giant room of volleyball. The volleyballs look like popcorn.

You and your family can go for the day. You can see some familiar faces - Natalie Tupper from Rappahannock will be playing with NVVA Fauquier 17's. Danika with Fredericksburg 16's. Josie with Fredericksburg 13's. The twin sister of one of the Strasburg coaches is coaching with Clash (the 15's). The coach from Highland, Gary Hicklin, will be there with his Fauquier 16's. Dani, Nat and Josie are all playing in the Saturday morning waves from about 8:00AM until 2:00PM.

Teams will be there from Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Deleware, and North Carolina.

Naturally, the place will be crawling with college recruiters. This is the first big tournament of the JO season and over 100 colleges are usually there. Several ODAC college coaches are coaching teams, too. Lynchburg's coaching staff (Elena's school) is spread over 3 Heart of Virginia U16 teams, HOV red, HOV navy, HOV white. Coach Ellenger will be there with the 16 Navy.

Again this is a giant room with 30 volleyball courts side by side in a grid pattern that you can just walk around and watch 12 or 13's for a while, stop by the 16's and over to the 18's. Penn State's recruit plays for RVC 18's and she is amazing to watch.

Go watch some volleyball and spend a reall awesome day with some pretty amazing people!
