Notch another win at home, Generals win 11-4!

Home sweet home is a big statement for the Waynesboro Generals. The Generals defeated the Woodstock River Bandits 11-4 and now have won their 9th in a row at home and have the best record at home with a (13-2) record. They are now (12-0) when scoring over 7 runs or more in a game.

The game was scoreless till the bottom of the 3rd when Gabriel Saade and Evan Webb both had singles and a stolen base and Grant Buckner had 2 RBI's in the inning. Waynesboro then scored another 3 in the 5th when Mark Dvoronzak walked, Saade singled and Ryan Adams brought them both in with a 2 RBI double. Grant Buckner added another RBI double of his own in the same inning. Kory Hollensteiner had a solo HR in the 6th to get Woodstock on the board. The River Bandits added another run in the 7th before the Generals added another 5 in the bottom of the 7th, with Greg Meleski, Saade, Dvornznak, and Webb with 2 RBI's all getting the runs batted in. Buckner had a total of 3 RBI's and Ryan Adams and Evan Webb had 2 each.

Winning pitcher for the Generals was Andy Altemus who went 7 innings, giving up 2 runs on 6 hits, 0 walks and 7 K's. Brad Grove,Ryne Simpson and Evan Depotter came in for the 8th and 9th, with Simpson giving up 2 runs on 2 hits in the 9th. Altemus is now at 5-1 for the season. The losing pitcher for the River Bandits was Drew Buonanni who went 4 1/3 innings giving up 5 runs on 6 hits, 4 walks, 1 hit batter and 5 K's. Drew is now 1-5 on the season.

Waynesboro improved to (22-10) on the season and will face Front Royal Cardinals Sunday night. Woodstock is now (13-19) on the season and they will be at home to face Luray.

Generals fall 5-4!

The Waynesboro Generals fell to the Harrisonburg Turks 5-4 on Friday night ending their two game winning streak. The Generals scored the 1st 2 runs in the 2nd and 3rd inning before the Turks scored 3 in the 3rd to take a 3-2 lead. In that inning the Generals starter, Jake Cowan gave up 3 runs on 2 hits, the only runs and hits he gave up all night. Waynesboro tied it up in the 5th and took the lead 4-3 in the 7th after Grant Buckner doubled and Austin Morgan got a RBI after reaching on a error. Harrisonburg then got 4 runs on 4 hits in the 8th after a was thought 3rd strike was called back and then a hit was next for the Turks. Harrisonburg then hit into a double play and then rallied with 4 runs with 2 outs when Chris Murphy hit a GR double and Mike Precise and Drew Johnson both had big hits and extra bases after a throwing error. 2 hits came off of relief pitcher Matt Sokolowski and another 2 hits was off of Kaleb Fleck.

Generals starter Jake Cowan went 7 innings, giving up 3R,2H,3BB,7K's. and the Turks starter Matt Chaffee went 6 innings, giving up 3R,4H,4BB. The winning pitcher was Chase Sonen and losing pitcher was Kaleb Fleck.

Star players for the Generals was Greg Meleski with a double,2 walks,and a stolen base. Grant Buckner had 2 hits, a double, stolen base, and a run. Austin Morgan had 2 RBI's.

The Generals fell to (21-10) and has fallen to (1-4) on Fridays after losing to Harrisonburg twice, Fauquier and Woodstock (all away games) with only win coming at Covington. Fridays just isn't our day. Harrisonburg improved to (11-19) and they will be at New Market tommorrow while the Generals will be back at home for 2 straight with Woodstock and Front Royal coming to town. The Generals are a league best (12-2) at home this season.
