Harrisonburg makes it 4 straight/ Waynesboro makes it back to back over Luray

Break up the Turks! Harrisonburg (6-9) made it 4 straight wins by defeating the Staunton Braves 4-3 last night at Memorial Stadium. We here at ATV-60 knew that the Turks would get things going once the troops arrived but didn't know just how quick they would turn it around.
In Luray, Waynesboro completed a home and home sweep over the Wranglers by defeating the home team 10-3. Generals Sign Guy Mike was at the game to collect his 6TH of 12 stamps and I am going to leave the game recap to him. I am sure he will post once he gets back down to Waynesboro. Once again it was good to see Chip Krable (ESPN-1240) doing the radio broadcast for the Generals and the crowd was a good one (341) for a week night.
Just called the bat phone and got the update from New Market where ATV-60 favorite Ross Fetterly picked up the "W" as the Rebels outscored the Covington Lumberjacks by a final score of 16-9. Maybe Melissa can fill us in later on some of the highlights. The other score listed was Front Royal 3 Fauquier 2 and there still was no update yet on Woodstock @ Haymarket.
The Waynesboro win coupled with the Covington loss leaves those two teams tied atop the South at 8-4 while the Fauquier loss leaves Winchester (9-4) in sole possesion of first place in the North.

Everyone now can say we are 1/4 thru the season and already 6 teams have 8 or more wins and 2 teams maybe three if Haymarket won over Woodstock which I haven't heard yet. Great season and got another 3/4 to go. Now with the Generals recap:

Waynesboro defeated Luray 10-3 and now have won 3 straight and 5 out of their last 6. They scored 5 runs in the 1st, which was huge due to the rally for both teams later in the game. Jacke Healey had a 3 run HR that was over the left field wall. Also Mark Dvoronzak and Derek Hamblen had singles in the inning all on Jordan Yost who only pitched 1 inning for Luray.

The next pitcher for Luray sorry I can't remember his name did well for over 3 innings only giving up one hit and striking out 6. Then Luray did score 1 run in the 7th and another 2 in the 8th but did leave atleast 5 stranded. The Generals did get some insurance in the 9th with another 4 runs in the 9th with doubles by Rhett Stafford and Jacke Healey and singles by Brandon Sizemore who stole 2 bases in the same inning and Chris Enourato. Stars for the game was Jacke Healey who went 2 for 4 with a HR,Double,2 runs scored and 4 RBI's. Chris Enourato had 2 hits, and 2 runs scored. Brandon Sizemore had 3 runs scored, 2SB, and a hit.

Winning pitcher was Matt Sokolowski going 6 inn,1R,6H,4K,1BB and losing pitcher was Jordan Yost going 1 inn,5R,4H,1BB.

Enjoyed the game Jerry and Rebecca and both of you did a great job with calling the game and taking pictures. I'll be sure to wear my UVA gear next time with in New Market or Luray. Barring a rainout this Saturday I will catch the next Generals-Rebels game if not I will be there on July 1 when Luray faces New Market at Rebel Park. One last thing gotta give to Luray they do a super job with the game programs and love their hot dogs, only wish each park had snow cones. Next 4 days I will have to listen to the radio for games and looking forward to catching 5 games (4 on road next week) I can't wait. GO GENERALS and GO HOOS!!
