I arrived at Bulldog Field a little earlier than usual to make sure the Wranglers had some music to listen to during practice. Ryan Carroll ended up beating me down there by a few minutes and it gave the two of us a few minutes to visit. Ryan and six of his Bulldog mates had just finished competing in a Virginia State baseball event up in Woodbridge. The tourney was a double elimination format and District 3 was the name that our players played under. We have included the baseball cards of the 7 Bulldogs that made the trip (Billy Foley was injured but still part of the club) and Ryan mentioned that 7 other athletes from Front Royal and Broadway were on the team. The coaching staff included Josh Wood, Mike Leake and Zack Leake. The D-3 team kicked off the week on Monday by catching a Potomac Nationals game and then followed it up with a pair of wins on Tuesday. Wednesday saw the team suffer its first loss by a 6-5 score to Dale City but the team woke up (Stayed at the Bestwestern Inn-Woodbridge) with one more chance to advance on Thursday morning. A team representing Va. Beach bested our locals on Thursday but we here at ATV-60 still salute the efforts of our Bulldogs! Ryan added "It was the most fun I have had with a group of players on a traveling team." We welcome comments from any of the other 'Dogs or parents and if anyone had a camera up in Woodbridge please let us know.....
Carroll County High School Boys Basketball is getting ready for its 2024 - 2025 season and once again the staff will be 100% Home Grown. The team will look to replace Davis Reitzel, Jabin Talley and Noah Manning this winter but return a roster full of Seniors as they look to continue their upward projectory of the past few seasons. Junior Varsity Head Coach Jason Stockner isn't pictured with the group but will also be returning to lead the younger Cavs along with Ryan Largen. We did sneak in a capture of Coach Stockner alongside Assistant Principal Kristen Quesenberry. The team has been hard at work since the end of last season and will be appearing in a Gymnasium near you before you know it !
Who knew that adding a OneofUs.Care Facebook page would take on a life of its own? We encourage you to check it out when you find yourself in need of a smile ! Today's snipits include Kayla Young of Carroll County Basketball
