Ball at Bridgeforth

After a night off everyone got back to Valley League action. Here at Bridgeforth Field, the Winchester Royals (16-12) defeated the Waynesboro Generals (19-9) 5 to 1 in a game that finished at 10pm, my 2nd game this week that finished by or before 10. The Generals in the 1st had 2 hits and almost had three in a row and a run but a close call at 1st was called out that left the runners stranded. In the 3rd the Generals got on the board when Evan Webb on a groudout got Gabriel Saade in. In the 4th the Royals got a 2 run HR if I am correct from Tyler Townsend right after a close call that was called safe before Townsend hit his home run off of the Generals starter Andy Altemus. Winchester scored another run in the 4th and another in the bottom of the 5th when Joey Agreste hit a 2 run HR. In the top of the 6th, Generals coach Lawrence Nesselrodt and 1st base coach Coach Cullen was both thrown out after arguing a caught stealing attempt at 2nd base when Derek Hamblen was trying to steal a base. The Generals did have chances tonight but stranded 10 runners. Andy Altemus was the losing pitcher going 4 1/3 innings, giving up 5R,7H,1K,3BB. The winning pitcher for the Royals was a Boston College Eagles player but I didn't write it down who it was. He went 5 innings, giving up 1R,8H,5K,2BB.

Tommorrow is the All-Star Game held in Covington with the Generals having 7 players named (Brandon Sizemore,Jared Dobbs,Andy Altemus,Adam Liberatore,Evan Webb,Jacke Healey and Mark Dvoroznak). Winchester had 5 players named (Justin Collop,Kyle Galbraith,Tyler Townsend,Andrew White, and Mickey Wiswall). Waynesboro's next game is back at home Tuesday vs the Covington Lumberjacks (16-11) and Winchester doesn't play until Wednesday when they face Woodstock (10-17) at home.

GO GENERALS!!
