Georgia Bulldogs await UNC / Fresno State Winner in CWS
The Georgia Bulldogs were the most skeptical of the 8 National seeds to be named for the College World Series but that didn't keep them from reaching the promise land. Georgia open a big lead on Stanford and then held on for a 10-8 victory to capture their bracket without a loss. UGA hosted a regional and then defeated NC State in the super regional to earn the trip to Omaha. The Dogs will get a day of rest as Fresno State and UNC will square off for the third time this week after UNC remained alive yesterday with a 4-3 win. Fresno State defeated the Tar Heels in their first contest by a score of 5-3 and the rubber game of the set should be a dandy. The game will begin at 7:00 PM tonight with the winner moving on to a best 2 out of 3 Game Championship starting Monday night.
The players from Miami and LSU headed toward the Valley began to arrive yesterday. Ryan Perry (Luray/Miami) made to Bulldog Field in time to wear his #22 jersey out to third base for the final two innings of play. I know that several Hurricanes are heading this way as well as some Tigers but I do not know about the Bulldogs (Fresno St/Georgia) or the Tar Heels.
