Big 8th brings big win in Waynesboro

A great pitcher's duel was going on at Kate Collins Field tonight with the Haymarket Senators facing the Waynesboro Generals. Waynesboro broke up a 1-1 tie in the 8th when Austin Morgan had a 2 run HR off of Senators starter Ben Hildreth. Waynesboro added another run when Ryan Adams had a double and then Evan Webb had a RBI single off of Grant Sasser.
Waynesboro's starter and ace Adam Liberatore had a so-so game, he did give up the only run the Senators had when the Senators had a RBI triple in the 1st. He did settle down went 6 1/3 innings, 1 run, 5 hits, 7 K's and 4 walks with the no decision. Kaleb Fleck got the win going 2 2/3 innings, 0 runs, 0 hits, 6 K's and 1 walk. Fleck is now (1-2). The losing pitcher Ben Hildreth went 7 1/3 innings, gave up 3 runs, on 4 hits, 3 K's and 4 walks. He is now (5-4). Big hitters for the Generals was Austin Morgan with the 2 run HR, Ryan Adams with a double, 3 walks, and 2 runs scored and Evan Webb with a RBI single.
Waynesboro (31-14) is off to Haymarket (18-27) tommorrow for Game 2, the Generals was the only team and higher seed that won on Tuesday night. If Waynesboro wins they win the series, if the Senators win the final game of the best of 3 will be here at KC Field on Thursday. The Generals improved their home record to 19-4 on the season, WOW!!
