New Market pulls out and defeats the Generals 14-5
Written by: GeneralsSignGuyMike (Michael Kerr)

The New Market Rebels came out on fire tonight at Kate Collins Field when they defeated the Waynesboro Generals 14-5. The Rebels scored 5 runs both in the 2nd and the 3rd to take a 10-0. Waynesboro had two errors right after 2 outs in the 2nd which lead the charge to the New Market lead. The Rebels then added a 2 run HR in the 3rd and by the end of the 3rd they had 11 hits to add with the 10 runs. Sorry I don't have many notes on who did what because I arrived at the beginning of the 4th.

Waynesboro did have one run in the 4th, two in the 5th, and one each in the 6th and 7th but they did strand 12 batters tonight. Kevin Crum for New Market was the winning pitcher improving to 2-2 I believe he went 6 innings and gave up 4 runs. Jeff Sinkiewicz was the losing pitcher falling to 2-4. Jeff went 2 1/3 innings, giving up 7 runs, 8 hits, and 2 K's

Waynesboro and New Market is both off Monday, the Generals will be at home to face the Haymarket Senators (15-23) while the New Market Rebels will be at Staunton Braves (22-17). With the Staunton win over Covington tonight the Braves moved ahead of the Lumberjacks for 2nd. The Generals (26-12) now have a 4 1/2 game lead over the Braves and have a 5 game lead over the Lumberjacks.

Tuesday will be a big day for the Generals and myself and I will have that story today about the Around the Valley Journey, more on that in the next story.

GO GENERALS!!
