One Sided Games on NIght #53- except Turks over Cards
Four of the five VBL games were decided six runs or more Tuesday night with the lone exception being Harrisonburg's 6-5 victory at the Bing over Front Royal.
Luray 6 @ Covington 0
Luray (28-10) kept steam rolling past opponents as the Wranglers white washed the Lumberjacks 6-0 despite the long bus ride down to Casey Field. The latest winning streak for Mike Bocock's team is at 5 and this follows earlier streaks of 6 and 9 straight. Luray needed the win to remain 1 & 1/2 games ahead of Waynesboro for the best record in the VBL because:
@ Waynesboro 12, Haymarket 2
Adam Liberatore gave up a first inning run to the Senators before finding a grove and then the lefty simply became UN-hittable as he upped his record on the season to 6-0. Brandon Sizemore connected on a 3 run home run to lead the Generals (27-12) offense.
@ Staunton 14, New Market 4
The Braves (23-17) made it 13 wins in their last 17 games since their double header loss at Fauquier back on June 28TH. The team that nobody wants to face in the VBL opening round- some might say it is the Braves. New Market was unable to follow up its impressive win over the Generals but remains alive as Woodstock, Haymarket and Front Royal all lost in the battle for the final playoff spot.
Winchester 16 @ Woodstock 3
Winchester (22-17) scored a season high in runs in their one-sided win over the River Bandits. The Royals have won two straight by a combined score of 25-3 as they prepare for a run in the post season.
AT THE BING: Harrisonburg played its third game in just over 24 hours and picked up a crucial win over the Front Royal Cardinals by a final score of 6-5. How important was the Turks latest "W" ?
Quick look at the final 5 for 2 VBL playoff spots: All 5 teams have 5 games remaining
Harrisonburg- 16-23 (6-4 last 10)
Haymarket- 15-24 (3-7 last 10)
____________________________
Woodstock- 14-25 1 game behind (2-8 last 10)
New Market- 13-26 2 games behind (4-6 last 10)
Front Royal- 12-27 3 games behind (2-8 last 10)
With their HUGE win the Turks magic number to clinch a playoff spot is now down to just 2

Staunton @ Waynesboro,
Luray-off
Harrisonburg @ Winchester
Fauquier @ Woodstock
