On a dark and stormy night there was the tale of the three ball games!

Monday, Monday.... Make-up day was here and the schedule had three games on it and the story sorta went like Goldie Locks & The Three Bears... Haymarket @ Woodstock- The call was made before the opening pitch to give way to the weather for a second time on the Senators and River Bandits showdown. I didn't hear exactly when the no play call was made but lets hope it was before Haymarket boarded the bus. Luray @ Waynesboro - Luray waited until 5:30 ish to board the team bus as the weather/storms were dominating the headlines. The Wranglers finally arrived just prior to 7:00 p.m. and the start of the game was moved back with the hopes of sneaking 9 innings into the books. Luray had made the 65 mile trip south the first time this game was on the schedule and wasn't sure about doing it again. The game got started late and Generals Sign Guy Mike was keeping me updated every couple of innings until they pulled the plug around 10:30 p.m. during the bottom of the 7 Th inning....

Day 14- The first day we didn't HAVE to go to a ball park- so we went to 5 of them!

We here at ATV-60 are not afraid of Friday the 13 Th so we set out to try and do something extra fun. The morning started with a 3:00 a.m. trip up to Dulles (Airport) to drop off Mr. Pat Kelly. Pat has been staying with us this week while visiting his son Clay (Wranglers). Pat was insistent on giving me something for my time and trouble so I went in search of an adventure for the night. After doing 11 in 11 and then having back to back home games working the PA at Bulldog Field, it was going to be night 14 and my/our first night without any scheduled requirements. So I put my thinking cap on and came up with this idea: FRIDAY THE 13TH- ATV-60 STYLE SPONSORED BY: MR. & MRS. PAT KELLY 6:14 PM- Linda, Diamond, Rebecca and I loaded up the Mercury (43,357.2/303.1)) and headed out of Luray . The first stop in town was work related but the second stop was @ Bulldog Field. The Wranglers were on the road so it was a different look at our park and included shots of all the cars the players...

Now for the rest of the story: Haymarket

All the stores have been collected so I will try and finish out the top5 from our visit up to Haymarket / Sunday night! #5.- This one actually happened after we got back home. I found a message/posting left by Bobby McGrath III. We had met Bobby for the first time the other night in Winchester and it took a couple of days to finish the story. We have come to expect that we had friends coming in and that carried over to others. But when you meet people for the first time you are not always sure how much they will think about the conversation after the end of the night. Bobby had followed up on our visit and took the time to share his thoughts on the evening in Winchester. This means a lot to me (even more so that he liked the recap), because this day and age where everyone is so busy, what impressed me the most was Bobby taking the time to check back in. Thanks again! #4.- Catfish Lewie's and the Senators- I grew up in a world where bartering came second nature. Now that the econo...

News and notes from Haymarket, Virginia

Good Morning, I am going to try and give a quick recap for those who might be joining us for the first time. My family and I are trying to help shine a spotlight on the Valley Baseball League and all of the amazing people that are behind the scenes. Last night we went to Haymarket (stop #9 of 11) and had a great time meeting folks from both visiting Luray and the home standing Haymarket Senators. My youngest daughter, Rebecca , spends the evening taking as many photos as possible and then she comes back and posts them on the site. She finished last night and then I go to work on my end. We try to pick out 10 topics that made the night special for us from both the visitors and the home fans. One other goal we have is to try and take a picture of each one of the volunteers that give up so much of their time to help out the owners. Please make sure you get to look at those (under the listing- Hey, Hey what, Haymarket ). Let's get busy- #10.- Wrangler skipper Mike Bocock ...

Hay! Hay what? Hay-MARKET!

Here are some pictures of our trip to Haymarket. I got the privilege once more of riding with Mrs. Debbie, Mr. Bocock and the whole Wrangler family up to the field. I love those guys (and I would like to put on the record that I meant no harm in wearing that New Market jersey to the Battle of the Mountain - I love both teams). I have to admit that there are a lot of Luray pictures mixed in here because the player we're hosting (Clay Kelly, number 26) got in yesterday and it was his first game. Exciting!
