Quick Scores from Around The Valley- Day 23

Pitching was the star of the show in both games played in Augusta County last night!
Jordan Yost (WVU) and a host of Luray relief pitchers defeated the Staunton Braves by a
final score of 2-1. The Braves scored in the bottom of the first but did not cross the plate after
that early rally.
The Waynesboro Generals went Yost one better by limiting the red hot Winchester Royals to just 2 hits in their 3-0 shut out victory. Mike will have some game notes for you on that one.
Covington made the cross valley trip over to Fauquier and the Lumberjacks claimed a 4-0 white washing of the Gators. Three games into the night and just 10 Total runs.
The New Market 5-3 victory over Haymarket looks like a slug fest and the Woodstock River Bandits 8-4 decision over Front Royal appeared down right crazy. Woodstock (I think that is 4 of 5) picked up 13 hits in their win at Central High School.
It is amazing that all 5 games made it through the night and into the books. Waynesboro didn't
get started until 8:30 PM and we were able to listen to the end of the Generals win on 1240 AM-ESPN-The Boss. Check out Rebecca's weather report from earlier tonight. I have to get out and
deliver some newspapers- I will be back later
