As Summer turns to Fall , We begin to put a wrap on Around The Valley in 2008

We are getting closer to wrapping up our 2008 Adventure of Valley Baseball League fun. Rebecca has emptied to camera one last time as she will be heading back to the University of Virginia in the morning.

There were days that seemed to last forever during the past three months but as it becomes time to look back and reflect on the experience...

The jackets are in the Final stages and will soon be ready for us to distribute to all of the Loopsters. Daniel is hard at work on the project and hopes to be finished sometime in the next week. Once he is done we will begin working on getting them passed out. The instructions for cleaning are- COLD WASH ONLY/NO DRYER !

I encourage everyone looking for more and more info on the VBL past and present to stay in touch with John Leonard's site @ http://allthingsvalleyleague.thinkpad.com . As we move closer to finishing up I will hang a "Closed" sign on the front page of the site. There are still some questions as to what the future holds for us and as soon as we know we will gladly pass it on...

To contemplate seeing a "closed" sign on this site makes me sad. Is there still room for reconsideration? I for one would hope that people could continue to blog about recent updates and news about their favorite players as they return to school. John Leonard does a great job with the athletic updates but some of us host families & friends can provide the skinny on the more personal side here...just a thought..just can't bear the thought of it ending!
My thoughts had always been that I would keep writing as long as people are still reading! I still have a shoe box full of stories to go through yet...

I agree with rabid rebelle ... Jerry don't hang us out to dry! We enjoy your entertaining stories and outlook on VBL baseball. As she said, it's a great forum for VBL fans and families to share news on their favorite players, etc.

News Flash ... the lights and outfield fence are down at Veterans Memorial Stadium! Won't be long before our beloved "Vet", "House of Thrills" (as Mike Schikman called it), or "Memorial Stadium" ... whatever the name ... it's almost gone. September 1st is the date that we were given for demolition. I hope they don't get ahead of schedule and sneak another date in there without notifying the community.

I plan to be there with the video camera to preserve the story for my college bound Matt that will miss it.

See Jerry ... there's another story for your blog! I'll meet you there on the 1st :) You write the story and I'll take the pictures since your photographer (Rebecca) will also be back at UVA.
