My game 1 notes: I don't know who started the game for the teams on Sunday night but I can say this-Chris Chapman looked tough for the Turks in the opener. Chris left the game after Anders Oster singled in a run with 2 outs in the top of the 8TH. Justin Wood recorded the final 4 outs to give the Turk staff a combined 2 day-four hitter. McDonough singled to right back in the 5TH inning and Chapman didn't allow another hit until the Oster single.

Game 2- The pitchers dominated the game early on but the Gators took advantage of some Turks miscues late to stretch a 3-2 lead into a 6-2 victory. There was a brief scare in the top of the second inning when Fauquier's Scott Van Dusseldrop was struck by a pitch on his batting helmet. Scott was able to leave the field on his own and we here at ATV-60 hope all is okay.

The Gators (23-15) played small ball early to score their first 3 runs. The visitors combined some bunts, infield hits and stolen bases to take a 3-1 lead. Landon Camp homered to trim the lead to 3-2 but Ben Blanton (Vanderbilt) and Jon Luke Jacobs (Auburn) clamped down to out duel Garrett Parker. Harrisonburg (15-23) had runners on the corners with 1 out in the fourth but Blanton escaped with the help of a 6-4-3 double play.

EDITORS NOTE: Randy Johnson (Big Unit) pitched 7 innings of 2-hit ball for Arizona as the Diamondbacks won 2-0 at home over the Cubs. Victory #291 for his career- only 9 more for 300.
